Sony Xperia SP and Xperia L with Jelly Bean


Sony has launched two new mid-range Xperia smartphones, the Xperia SP and Xperia L, both of which run the Android 4.1 version of Jelly Bean.

The Xperia SP has a co-moulded aluminium frame with a 4.6-inch 720p HD Reality Display. The Xperia L has a 4.3-inch display. The phones will hit global markets by Q2 of 2013.



The Xperia SP has a Qualcomm MSM8960Pro dual-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz. It has 8GB internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB via miroSD card. The screen resolution is 720×1280 pixels and it is made of tempered glass. The device has an 8-megapixel rear camera that supports 1080p HD video recording and front facing camera which supports VGA. In terms of connectivity, the device has LTE support for 4G Internet, NFC functionality. It has 2370mAh battery which the company states offers talk time of up to 10 hours and 25 minutes and standby time of up to 635 hours


The Xperia L has a Qualcomm MSM8230 dual-core processor, clocked at 1Ghz. This too has 8GB of internal storage and this too is expandable up to 32GB via miroSD card. The rear and front cameras are the same at the Xperia SP but unlike the SP which supports 1080p HD video recording, the Xperia L supports 720p HD video recording.
